Privacy Policy

The short version

NUCO is your nutrition companion. We collect only what we need to score your meals and track your progress. We never sell your data, and you can delete your account and everything in it at any time.

What we collect

• Account: your phone number, email address, name and profile photo, and a security key for each iPhone you sign in on.
• Profile: age range, height, weight, goals, diet and allergy choices, supplements, and whether you take prescription medication.
• Meals: the photos you scan and the results (foods, nutrition, scores).
• Health numbers you enter: weight, cholesterol, blood sugar and A1c.
• Feedback you send us.
• Purchases: whether you have NUCO Plus. Payments are handled by Apple; we never see your card details.

How we use it

To recognize the foods in your photos, calculate scores and nutrition, personalize tips and meal suggestions to your goals, diet and allergies, show your history and trends, send reminders you've turned on, and improve NUCO.

Your consent to health information

Your goals, health numbers (weight, cholesterol, blood sugar, A1c), medication answer, diet and allergies are health information. By agreeing to this Privacy Policy, you consent to NUCO collecting and using it only to score your meals, personalize tips, recipes and meal plans, and show your progress. We never sell it or use it for advertising. You can withdraw this consent at any time by deleting your account (Profile → Delete), which removes it permanently.

Your consent to AI photo analysis

To identify foods, your meal, fridge, grocery and supplement photos are sent to a third-party AI service, Google's Gemini API, under a paid service agreement. Google does not use them to train its models. When writing recipes, we send it the foods found and your diet, allergy and goal choices, never your name, email or health numbers. By agreeing to this Privacy Policy, you consent to this processing. Scanning can't work without it; to withdraw, delete your account.

Photos that aren't food

NUCO is only for photos of meals, drinks, fridges, groceries and supplements. If a photo doesn't show food, or shows people, nudity or personal documents, we don't score it and we delete it right away instead of storing it. Please don't upload photos like these.

Signing in

To sign in with your phone number, we send it to Twilio, which texts you a 6-digit code; Twilio uses it only to deliver and check that code. To keep your account safe if your number ever changes hands, NUCO remembers the iPhones you sign in on: each keeps a private security key that never leaves that iPhone, and we store only its public half. When you sign in on a new iPhone, we email a code to the address on your account, sent through our email provider, Resend. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple gives us an account identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address (or a private relay address).

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored securely with our backend provider, Supabase, encrypted in transit and at rest. Photos are kept in private storage that only your account can access.

Sharing

We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't use it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers that run NUCO (Supabase, Google, Apple, Twilio, Resend), or when the law requires it.

Apple Health

If you turn it on, NUCO can save meals, weight and fasting glucose to Apple Health. Data from Apple Health is never used for advertising or sold.

Your choices

You can view and edit your profile at any time. In Profile → Privacy you can see when you agreed to this policy. You can delete your account from Profile → Delete, which permanently removes your profile, scans, photos and health numbers. If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll ask you to agree again before you continue using NUCO.

Website and waitlist

If you join the waitlist on hellonuco.com, we keep only your email address, to tell you when NUCO launches and about major updates. We don't share it, and you can ask us to remove it at any time at support@hellonuco.com. The website doesn't use advertising cookies.

Children

NUCO is for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger.
